How to edit specific information in templates
This file is a reference guide to our template package. By having this guide you will gain a better understanding about our templates and be able to create your own Storyline courses.
Most of the slides can be easily duplicated and edited to suit your needs by changing background images and texts, but some slides have additional elements. This part of guide consists of short manual how to adjust hotspots and triggers on our template as well as how to manage menu. In this template package there are two .story files – one includes default menu and other one includes our custom menu.
Adjusting hotspots
This template package includes various hotspot slides. Some slides, like, Charts with Hotspot have simple trigger and layer functionality, but others, like Hotspot have more advanced trigger and layer functionality. If you want to have the same number of hotspots or reduce amount, you can simply edit the ones we made. To delete hotspot, just delete corresponding objects and layers for unnecessary hotspots.
If you want to make more hotspots, you just need to select the hotspot object on the Timeline or on the preview screen and copy it – by doing so you will also copy all corresponding triggers. After you have copied the hotspot itself, don’t forget to copy the corresponding hotspot popup layout. It also will have the same functions as original. To avoid misunderstandings and make it more obvious, we recommend to change the labels to hotspot and popup just after you have copied them. To tie together the popup layout and hotspot, you need to go to the hotspot triggers and change the Show layer Hotspot Popup 1 (see below) to the new layer you made. You don’t need to adjust any other triggers.
To guarantee that each layer goes back to the original state (being hidden) you need to double-check that slide and each layout (if you made new hotspots) properties are just as you can see on screenshots below.
For some hotspot templates you don’t need to check the “Hide other slide layers” box on the Slide Layer Properties. If you are creating new layers, please check carefully that you use the same settings as we did for each layout on each page.
Adjusting Drag & Drop targets
For your convenience we have named all the drag areas as “DragX” and drop areas as “DropX”. You can change them right on the timeline and in case you need to reorder them just go to the Form view.
Changing the logo
To change the FasterCourse logo to your logo, you need to go to the Slide Master view and upload and position your logo on the first slide. You can either delete gui_logo.png or just change the image under Format tab if you want to maintain its the placement on the slides.
What kind of slides are included in this template package?
Basically here you have two types of templates – info slides and test slides. Info slides usually consist of information about the course, theoretical materials and other textual information. You can have an info slide with a simple text block or a more complex interactive slide – it can contain hotspots and other interactive elements to make it more interesting for learner. Test slides offers various ways to test your learner’s knowledge.
Info slides
There are two info slide templates on this package – intro page which contains an image on the upper area of page, title and introduction text as well as two buttons. One is “Leave test” which exits the course and “Start test” to start the test.
The second info slide template is the results slide. There are two different layers, one if the test is passed and the second one if learner has failed the test. Both are very alike, just different texts and images on pages.
On the “Test fail” layer there is also a second button named “Try again” which resets the scores and sends learner back to the first page of this course.
True or False slides
We have included two different “True or False” template pages – one is for the situation when learner needs to make decision about only one statement. It has two buttons and the answer is submitted after learner presses one of them.
The second one, named “True or False 2” is when there are more than one statement in a single page. To submit these answers, learner needs to press the “Submit” button.
Drag & Drop slides
We have included several Drag & Drop templates with different layouts but the same structure. You can choose the Drag & Drop layout which suits the best for your needs – if you need to check learners’ knowledge of how well he knows some details placement on image or some other visual stuff, the best templates could be Drag & Drop on Image or Scenario Drag & Drop.
There are also Timeline Drag & Drop template which is great for checking learners’ knowledge of historical development of company or other item. The same goes for other Scenario Drag & Drop template which contains a stylised graph (you can also insert a picture of actual graph) and points on it.
If you want to have more standardized Drag & Drop template, you can use Classic Drag & Drop template or Round Drag & Drop template.
If you have two option groups and want learner to sort them, the best use could be the Messy Choice Drag & Drop template. Here you can have as many items as you can place on the page and sort them in two groups.
Puzzle slide
This slide contains a puzzle learner needs to put together to get to the next slide. It is also a form of Drag & Drop slide – you need to cut your desired image in pieces and assign them correctly to the drop targets.
Choose five slide
This slide contains ten round text fields and five of them are correct. After learner selects them and presses “Submit” button, the page shows which of his answers are correct and which are wrong. This is the only page which has no feedback.
Feedbacks
There are several feedback options – each page has one suiting the best for it. The system is the same for all – the grey ones are for correct answers and the red ones are for wrong ones. You can see these feedback styles below.
